On the Tuesday, Aug. 30, edition of TODAY, Matt Lauer will interview Dick Cheney. The live sit-down will come the morning after Jamie Gangel interviews the former vice president for NBC's "Dateline" at 10 PM ET.

The two-part talk will be the first in-depth interview Cheney has given since leaving the White House. He will discuss his new memoir, "In My Time," a look back over his four decades in politics, his family, his health, and his life before, during, and after serving in the administration of George W. Bush. The book comes out the same day as Matt's interview.

Matt has deep experience in interviewing political newsmakers. In November 2010, he sat down with President George W. Bush in his first one-on-one television interview since leaving the Oval Office. He has also sat down with President Barack Obama in several exclusive one-on-one interviews since the November 2008 election.
