I watched the Martha Stewart segment from the studio this morning. If you watched at home, you learned some great tips on spring-cleaning from sweeping your floors to vacuuming your mattress (wait...really?)
The studio view was a little different. While one anchor was with Martha tackling one area of spring-cleaning, the other three anchors were off camera trying to get him or her to laugh. Martha is truly a tour de force when it comes to sterilizing your home in time for the warm weather, but I have to say, sometimes the things she points out are beyond me. I caught up with Meredith, Al, Matt and David Gregory after the segment to see what their actual spring-cleaning habits are. WATCH VIDEO
Q: Meredith and Al - have either of you ever vacuumed a mattress?
Al: No. Definitely not.
Meredith: I don't think I've even flipped over a mattress, I never change my screens for winter and if it's my own phone, why would I clean it?
Q: Matt - what does your spring-cleaning always include?
Matt: I'm a big spring organizer (cut to Meredith rolling her eyes). I like to go through everything and toss all the stuff I don't need.
Q: David - What's your least favorite cleaning chore?
David: Hm...let me think about this one. Oh, I know. Emptying the diaper pail - need me to elaborate any further?
Q: What's your go-to chore that you always get done?
David: Well, this isn't just in spring, but I clean the computer area a lot and I'm very good about polishing the silver frames. That's how I roll.
On my way into the control room I ran into Lee Miller, an associate director, who admitted that he can't wait to get a mattress vacuum, that he has actually vacuumed his vacuum before and that you will never find a bathroom cleaner than his. While our talent may be hopeless, at least one member of our staff got inspired by Martha - and hopefully some of you did too!
