Michelle Borba gets our MVP Award for the morning. She is our parenting expert who came by to discuss how to send your kids off to college, and the emotions that come along with that event for parents. But what you don't know is that as of last night, Michelle was staying in her hotel here in New York thinking that she wasn't going to be on the show this morning. Due to some other news events and bookings coming along, her segment was temporarily bumped to another day. But good thing she decided to stay, because we needed to call her back as the show continued to shuffle around and her segment was put back in. Then we called her again this morning to change the time of her appearance... and then we called her and changed it again. But thankfully, finally, at 9:05 eastern time, she was ready to go. Once again, the joys of live television.
That being said, Michelle was talking about sending your kids off to college. Meredith is getting ready to do that this fall with her oldest son. I remember my older brother being sent off, and then doing the same thing myself two years later. I think my parents were in denial about the fact that I was moving a big, bad.... well, one hour away from home. But whether it's just an hour, or all the way across the country, that doesn't change the fact for parents that there's suddenly an empty bed in the house. So who out there is getting ready to send their babies away? Are you mourning their impending departure... or are measuring their room for a new hot tub?
