At the Animal Care & Control shelter in New York City the year is off to a very busy start, sadly, because many of the animals occupying this facility and others across the country are "returns." These were pets given as gifts, and then brought back after the holidays because the owners could not properly care for them.

We are featuring four dogs who are looking for a new home - two are Christmas returns- who are all hoping for another chance at a permanent home.

  • Spanky is a 2-year-old irresistible Shih Tzu mix with a magnetic personality.
  • Zoev is a poodle mix who puts the "s" in sweet. This bundle of love wants nothing more than to curl up in your lap, and with this breed there’s no worry about hair everywhere -- they don’t shed.
  • Another great gal in our lineup is Flora, a 2-year-old Yorkshire terrier mix, who is both an active angel and a big kisser.
  • Last but not least, there is Spunky, an energetic pup with a name to match. He’s a 6-month-old Welsh terrier mix, who was also a holiday gift return. Take it from me, it's impossible not to fall in love with this adorable and affectionate pup the second you see him.

These four beautiful, healthy and super-sweet dogs are all waiting with wagging tails to find the perfect loving home.
