TODAY viewers got a glimpse into the past Monday morning as Matt's childhood neighbor showed off a photo of the Lauer family from more than 50 years ago.
Jane Kacmarski was Matt's neighbor in Chappaqua, N.Y., in the 1950s. She said she took the photo when she was 6 or 7 years old.
"As children we played in the neighborhood together, and his sister and I are the same age," Kacmarski said.
In the photo, a young Matt can be seen with his mother, Marilyn; father, Jay; and sister, April.
Kacmarski wasn't sure exactly when the photo was taken, but guessed it was taken in the late 1950s, when Matt was 2 or 3 years old.
"I took this picture on the first little camera I got when I was young," Kacmarski said. "They posed for me because I was taking pictures with my new camera, and I have just had it all these years."
