On the heels of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, we decided to do our own version of what we’re calling "The Best in Show Bow to Wow." As far as we’re concerned, every shelter dog is a blue ribbon champion. Animal Care and Control in New York City was sadly full to the maximum capacity with amazing animals, all waiting and hoping for a wonderful permanent home. So starting with the Hound group, let me introduce you to Bagel the beagle, the cutest, most active year-and-a-half-old bubbly boy who truly puts the "a" in adorable.

Next, from the Toy group, we have a Pekingese princess named Holly. This true sweetheart is 3 years old and as calm and mellow as can be. Incidentally, a Pekingese won in the Toy group at this year’s Westminster show.

Now, on to the Terrier group, where we have a year-old Yorkshire terrier named Toby. This little guy is full of energy and has loads of personality. In the Sporting group, we have a tan and white Lab mix special named J.R., a fabulous 5-year-old boy who cuddles in your lap and kisses you on command.

Finally, we came up with our own category called the "Potpourri" group, which is a combination of many breeds -- and ours is a true, mixed delight. We chose a girl for this group, and she is a stunning, flaming-red sizzler named Ginger. A beautiful, primarily redbone hound who has eyes that could melt your heart, and a heart to match those eyes.

So here are our five true-blue winners, who do not need a dog show to prove they're stars. All they need is a simply wonderful home.
