1. PETER AND MELANIE, NEW YORK

Melanie is an administrative assistant and graduate student, while Peter is a trial attorney.

They met while attending college. She was out for a jog and sprained her ankle in front of Peter’s fraternity house. Melanie says she hopped inside and Peter was at the front door.

Melanie describes her wedding proposal as the day her life changed in “a New York minute.” Peter proposed to her while they dined at their favorite Italian restaurant. In the middle of a crowd of people, Peter knelt down on his knees in front of Melanie and asked her to marry him, but she was too busy sobbing to hear what he actually said. After settling down, she asked him if he had actually asked her to marry him. He repeated the question, and she replied with an emphatic, “Yes!”

Their perfect weekend outing is to wake up early on Saturday morning and head out for a day of rock climbing and camping.

2. SEAN AND ALANE, WASHINGTON, D.C.

Alane and Sean are both attorneys. Sean first noticed Alane when she walked into one of his law school classes. Sean says it was love at first sight for him, but it took Alane a bit longer.

He says falling in love with Alane was the greatest moment in his life. He proposed to Alane in the midst of a beautiful park surrounded by waterfalls and meadows.

Their perfect weekend outing includes time in the sun and a nice seafood dinner. They’re both history buffs, so historical tours are also something they really enjoy.

3. ERIC AND SUSAN, LOS ANGELES

Suzy works as the director of information technology at her company and Eric is a fundraiser for medical research. They were set up by a mutual friend. Suzy says she went to Eric’s office happy hour and after he walked up and introduced himself, he never walked away.

For their engagement, Eric’s friends got in on the act. It was moving day, and when Suzy walked in from the last trip to the truck they held up signs which read, “Look in the box.” Eric handed Suzy a moving box, and inside she found the ring. When she looked up, Eric’s pals flipped over their signs, and the other side read, “Will you marry me?”

Their perfect weekend outing includes a day of shopping and spending money, followed by a nice dinner and curling up with a movie.

4. RICK AND MAGHAN, SEATTLE

Maghan works as a marketing manager, while Rick is a small business owner.

They first met while attending college, but only dated briefly. Four years later, they reunited through mutual friends. They both looked at each other and knew they were meant to be together.

Rick popped the question while he and Maghan dined at an Italian restaurant on New Year’s Eve. She was blown away when the ring was presented in a champagne flute.

Their perfect weekend outing is to head to the gym for a morning workout, then meet friends for lunch at a favorite Saturday spot. At night, they like to have dinner and see a movie.
