Yesterday Tim Johnson Communication Director Julianne Fisher denied that Johnson has made up his mind about running next year calling any claims of that “unfair” and “exaggerated”. If indeed Johnson had already made up his mind and was going to run in 2008, why would Fisher so vehemently deny ABC reports to the contrary? I am sure Senator Johnson, who plans on getting back to the Senate next week, would like to have some time to get back into the swing of things before having to look forward to running a re-election campaign. Declaring his candidacy would probably make any return honeymoon a bit difficult and Fisher knows this. But Ms. Fisher, whose credibility is already a bit questionable at least with the South Dakota media, might have wanted to see the Bob Woodruff piece before denying such claims so quickly.
