Bert Green posts Filming in Downtown LA (part 1) that's asking for "input from the public regarding the issuance of a contract for film permitting services" i.e. the FilmLA contract is up for grabs. Green, of course, is the propoent that led to the Ad Hoc groups. At the newdowntown newsgroup, a petition to end all filming has started to make the rounds, which I think is almost impossible and impractical to even attempt (and never the objective of the Historic Core). While I wouldn't go as far as some the comments from pro film always part of the dialog who considers any curb in filming as "whining" and "what do you expect?" and the favored "it brings a lot of money to the city," I have observed how a film crew is hijacked for more money.
