NEW YORK, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ — Max Yasgur’s homestead (including his residence, 5,000 sq ft. farmhouse, 7,000 sq. ft. calving barn, and over 103 acres) is now for sale. Yasgur was the dairy farmer who became a cultural icon when he allowed 40 acres of his Bethel farm to be used in August 1969 for the gathering now known as “The Woodstock Music and Arts Festival.” Yasgur and his property were celebrated in Joni Mitchell’s song, “Woodstock,” popularized on Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s Deja vu album with the following words: “I’m going on down to Yasgur’s farm. I’m going to join in a rock n’ roll band.” Today, Woodstock’s original site is home to the $70 million Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
