Ben Tribbett on 8/19/07 Help Save Fairfax I attended the organizational meeting of “Help Save Fairfax” last night. The illegal immigrant issue has gotten a lot of attention recently and I wanted to see which elected officials and candidates decided to show up to this meeting. It was held on the far western reaches of Fairfax, so not surprisingly most of the attendees were from that part of the county. Attending this meeting were a number of GOP candidates and elected officials including Ken Cuccinelli, Patricia Phillips, Tim Hugo, Pat Herrity, and Gary Baise. While no Democratic candidates were there, I did see Jonathan Murray from Janet Oleszek’s campaign there, and the crowd was bipartisan with Mary Lee Cerillo and her husband Andy Cerillo. It’s not the kind of organization I would join, or even attend the meeting if I wasn’t covering it for this blog, but apparently some Democrats are very passionate about this issue.
