Why Was She On An ATV To Begin With?

CHLORIDE, Arizona (AP) -- A 13-year-old girl who went missing while riding an all-terrain vehicle was found dead in a mine shaft, while her 10-year-old companion was rescued with serious injuries early Sunday, authorities said.A rope team descended into the vertical shaft, where the teen was found dead, sheriff's spokeswoman Sandy Edwards said. Efforts were under way to remove her body.What I can't gather from the story is whether or not there were two ATV's or if both girls were riding one ATV but that's beside the point anyways. The question I'd like to know is what are a 13 year old and a 10 year old doing riding ATV's unsupervised?Speaking as a parent who certainly likes ATV's and who wants to get my older son a decent go-kart (to start) one day, I can't imagine that these children were supervised by parents since, well...a responsible parent wouldn't let their kid ride far and away without knowing exactly where they were heading, what the terrain is like, what the child's ability
