Does the question really have an answer? Is it really explainable? With so many different sports out there, why as a sports culture do we love the pigskin so much? Our love and passion for football runs deeper than what we hold for our ball and chain, but why? How do weekends in the fall differ from weekends right now? Why has the pigskin overtaken baseball as America's past time? As a sports culture, once the Super Bowl has come and gone we all go into a five month long drought suffering from sports depression and really don't begin to snap out of it to around this time of the year. See the Super Bowl is the only event where it doesn't matter who's playing for Lombardi's Trophy Hell, it doesn't even matter if one is a sports fan or not, (isn't that sick, not being a sports fan!) everybody comes together to watch.
