I want to write about former Governor Romney’s comments yesterday, but I want to address it as a symptom of a larger problem. There’s been much ado about his remarks in the blogosphere, and I think it’s important to read the actual remarks instead of attempting to reinterpret them. Breitbart has a summary written by an AP reporter, and Right Wing News has the entirety of his response. Below the Beltway comes at it from the position attacked by Right Wing News. What’s important to me is not whether any of Romney’s five sons, or Chelsea Clinton, or Cate Edwards, or any child of a candidate chooses to serve in the military. My concern is that both sides take this opportunity to attack the other side as if this was a party issue. It’s not a party issue; it’s a class issue.
