Video Game distributors in Quebec will likely see an added cost to selling their wares in the country. The question is, will the alien races in Halo need to speak French, too? A recent article in GlobeandMail.com states that the Quebec government and the Canadian Entertainment Software Association have come close to striking a deal where video game distributors will be required to sell video games which are spoken and written in French. The language watchdog, L’Office qu b cois de la langue fran aise, received 262 complaints between 2005 and 2006, and apparently helped with the negotiations. According to the article, approximately 80 percent of games in European markets are available in French, which led many to believe that there should be no reason why that same number shouldn’t be true of Canada.
