Joey Barton, as a result of his current jail time, has been offered an ultimatum from Newcastle United, to either take a pay-cut to 30,000 a week, or be fired from the organization. Given his history of violent outbursts, he kind of deserves tough love from Newcastle, because even brilliant footballers need to understand that the world has rules for them to follow. Manchester United have warned Cristiano Ronaldo that if he is not present for pre-season training he will be fined harshly. A good move, as United must be hoping to quell any protests from the Portuguese. Given his desire to leave Manchester for Madrid, and United's reluctance to let him depart. Fabio Capello has told Frank Lampard that he faces a fight to hold his starting position with England. Capello has also told Lampard to make the move to Inter Milan, stating that more experience on the International scene, with a different play style, could help him grow as a footballer.
