Two News Helicopters Crashed in Indian Steele Park of Central Phoenix |

The accident happened at noon 0f July 27 when two single-engine Aerospatiale helicopters respectively belonging to KNXV and KTVK TV stations were covering a live news report that police were chasing carjacker Christopher Jones. Both choppers went down in the Indian Steele Park of Central Phoenix, killing Craig Smith and Rick Krolak of Channel 3 (KTVK), Scott Bowerbank and Jim Cox of Channel 15 (KNXV). Later on the same day, two war planes P-51 Mustangs also collided (see pictures below) when landing at the Experimental Aircraft Association's annual AirVenture show held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, killing one of the pilots and injuring the other.
