Once upon a time, reality TV was seen as something new and exciting. It would provide us with intriguing insights into behaviour and emotion, leaving the participants exposed. Of course, the format was quickly bastardised leaving us with a bunch of programmes filled with mooning morons desperate for a career in TV or lads mag spreads. As a result, it's difficult to recall just how exciting the notion of reality TV really was. Well, if you want to rekindle your intrigue, you need to watch The Restaurant (BBC2, Thursday, 8pm). The show has been on for quite a few weeks now (four?) and shows no sign of getting dull or contrived. At the head of the show is the magnetic and talismanic Raymond Blanc who continues to show that, just because you're a super famous chef, you don't have to be an odious oaf.
