I don’t even want to acknowledge that idiotic boxing theme by addressing it at all, but I do have to say one thing. Seeing how incredibly awkward David Archuleta looked in his boxing get-up did actually endear him to me in a way I haven’t enjoyed since early in the competition. I would therefore like to state that I was more open to his performances than I have been in a while and don’t think I was watching with my usual bias (Randy Jackson sure was). FIRST ROUND: David Cook was assigned “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by Clive Davis. This would be the second time Cook has performed a song that I have a special attachment to because of a show I directed, so I was worried (and frankly, the most perfect reworking of that song already exists). I thought he did a really lovely job, though. He obviously loves performing and was really revved up by the huge crowd — he’s really a natural. The [ Full article ] |
