There’s a sudden burst of criminal incidents throughout the world today. Renewed insurgency in Afghanistan, a near shootout between Iraqi and US troops in the gulf, and the volatile trading of oil in the global markets. These incidents cause uncertainties in almost all markets and affect investor confidence. If you look at history, these things happen when the US economy is experiencing tremendous pressures to correct itself. At this time, experts say its on the verge of a deep recession. The mortgage problem seems to be a festering issue and it will not be solved as fast as we want it to be. Yesterday, reports say Asia will also be affected, belying earlier forecasts that effects would be minimal. In all these, expect an escalation of these problems as the US goes into full recession. No amount of diplomacy can solve the problem. It will not be better for anyone to withdraw investments since it will further cause the markets to fall. [ Full article ] |
