I am in San Francisco. I arrived yesterday direct from the UK. It so cold here first thing in the morning. It is foggy and windy, however by 11 o'clock each day it is hot and sunny. I am off to a tourist favourite, Alcatraz, The Island. Having spent 3 hours there, I have managed to get sunburnt, I think the wind made it worse. What an amazing place and the history of it being a prison for some 30 years until it was closed due to the high cost of running it in March 1963. Al Capone amongst them. In the evening walked along the front where the piers are and found a group of Sea Lions lying on the pontoons. They are a popular sight here.Lots of fish restaurants to eat at and cheap to eat.I ate at Neptunes Palace Seafood Restaurant on Peir 39. Excellent.
