And this is why everyone should oppose embryonic stem-cell research: because ESCR and "growing fetuses" are one and the same. This reminds me of the little mail-order critters advertised in the back of comic books I read as a kid -- they were like seahorses of some kind, and grown from crystal. Or something like that. Granted, we can't all be experts on embryology. But if this is the sort of mentality that reflects anything close to a prevailing view in America, it's no wonder we have some of the problems we do. Some fear that the U.S. is "threatening" to "backslide" toward the Dark Ages, but the truth is that the country's huge intellectual-ideological polarization implies that many people -- more than most of us are inclined to think -- have lived in such an unlit environment all of their lives.
