Good accomodations can mean the difference between a vacation you’ll always remember and one you just want to forget. But how do you know whether that hotel is really as great as it looks in the pictures? I know one couple that stayed on the first floor of a well-known chain hotel with a reputation for wholesome family accomodations - and had to deal with people knocking on their sliding door all night long, mistaking it for that of the drug dealer in the neighboring room. Then there was the Caribbean hotel with the air conditioner that had only an on/off switch, no temperature control or auto shut-off, so you could either leave it off as you went sight-seeing all day and come back to a sweltering room, or leave it on and come back to an ice box with drops of condensation all over the tv, mirrors and windows.
