Randy Stapilus is making his usual prediction of a liberal winning the general election. We harken back to last fall when Stapilus predicted that Peter Goldmark might actually win Wasington's 5th Congressional race against Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rogers.Stapilus does a pretty good job of reporting however his predictions are always skewed to ad a little more hope to the liberals in any race. One needs to keep that in mind when reading his predictions. The Spokesman Review's "Eye on Olympia" did not.RStap's conclusion is based on the fact that in this month's primary incumbent Mayor Dennis Hession did not reach 50% of the vote and that the two challengers' votes, Al French and Mary Verner, accounted for a higher percentage.That would certainly be something to consider however an even bigger consideration would be the turnout of this primary. It was an incredibly dismal 33% thus signaling that there are upwards of 70% of the voters who did not even participate in the primary. [ Full article ] |
