Religion…Politics…Saviors… The Washington Post declares: Republican Faithful Await a Savior in Iowa What strikes me about the piece is what I want to call “the undercurrent of identity.” As the piece describes the malaise of many Republican voters in Iowa, it seems those voters are somehow waiting for the candidate that is just right for them, or just like them. There is some religion talk in the piece: “I like Huckabee,” he says. “Romney — I wouldn’t hold it against him because he’s a Mormon, although I have to wonder. . . . But that doesn’t trouble me as much as his change of positions. You have to wonder whether he or Giuliani would put people on the bench that reflect my Christian values.” That undercurrent may however, become a gully wash if this Washington times piece, which K-Lo describes as “Huckabee’s Protestant weapon” is accurate: Former Arkansas Gov.
