Recently I mentioned the latest news regarding the Jen Six. This morning I read an interesting perspective on the Jena Six that resonated with me especially as I’ve been contemplating shades of grey. The former reporter in me, the one who wants to see stories from every angle, found Todd Lewan’s piece intriguing. That said, I recognize he is merely one more person who wasn’t there, who is merely compiling different accounts of people who all saw the same events through different eyes. Therein lies the rub. Everybody has a story. The tricky part is to tell those stories without letting your own interpretation or judgment color the issue. In spite of its reputation for being only for old people, Readers’ Digest is a favorite around my house. Unless my kids get their hands on it first, I often read it cover to cover the day it arrives.
