Very few states do not have ATV safety regulations in place South Carolina is one of a few States in the US that does not currently have any laws in place that regulate ATV safety. It's not because they haven't tried, but Gov Mark Sanford vetoed bills for legislation in 2006 and 2007. There are those that argue that there are too many things being controlled by the government already, and that more legislation is not wanted. While I tend to generally agree that less government is better, I still see daily reminders that people just don't get it when it comes to ATV safety. Or simple respect for that matter. According to The Herald in South Carolina, they have introduced another bill to enact legislation similar to that used in No. Carolina, including helmets and eye protection, training, and something that makes more sense to me than age restrictions; size fits.
