Sony PS3 at $200: Will sell like PS2 and 140m sales |

The current $400 price for a Sony PS3 is a good one and it also means that Sony are losing money on every Playstation 3 sold. What's confusing at first is the report on FT today that chief executive of Sony's PlayStation 3 (Kaz Hirai) wants to exceed the PS2 units sold. When you look at the figures, this is a major claim considering the PS3 has only sold 12.85m compared to the PS2's 140m. Some analysts say that the price of the Playstation 3 needs to get below the $200 mark before it will start to sell as well as the PS2. That would not be a surprise at that cheap price, but this price point will not be coming anytime soon. The Nintendo Wii is ruling the market not just for its unique control system compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360; it is also the cheap price that the Wii has been since the start.
