Both Video Business (via Newsarama) and Brandweek (by Becky Ebenkamp, whom I also met at a client gig in L.A. but didn’t have too much time to chat with) have stories about the massive effort Sony is planning for the home video debut of Spider-Man 3. Much of the effort revolves around cross-promotions with consumer-packaged goods brands such as Papa John’s, Pringles, Nutella and others, most of whom are not only creating packaging incentives but also will be running their own ad support. Marvel is also re-energizing the licensed toys and games from partners Hasbro, Activision and Thinkway Toys to create a new round of promotional activity. All of this is toward the goal of making the S-M 3 DVD and Blu-ray releases on October 30th one of the biggest of the holiday season. Powered by ScribeFire. [ Full article ] |
