A surveyor measures the former 4th and Main parking lot that is the site for the 188 rental units complex that will also contain an amphitheater. Over at Cinema Treasures, you can link previous snooping that shows the location of the to-be constructed outdoor plaza and amphitheater is very close to where the auditorium of the Hippodrome Theatre once stood. In the middle of this city block where the Panarama Building once stood, that according to this Sanborn map had enough room for a skating rink. It was the same lot that the Adolphus Theatre was built in 1911, and was renamed The Hippodrome Theatre in 1913. With it's long foyer and 2,100 seats, it was considered the largest theatre space in Downtown. It was in 1952 that the Hippodrome and the rest of the block was razed to become a parking lot that existed until a month ago.
