When we watch black and white footage of past wars, or read about them, we may feel a sense of detachment from the scenes presented to us. But the people living back then were real people, as alive as we are right now and, as my husband often says, their world is the same world that we live in today. The grass was green and the sky was blue. They had lovely sunny days like we have, and the sun and sky that they looked upon is the same sun and sky that we look upon now. We may even have a sense of detachment regarding the current war in Iraq, perhaps because we don't have a draft. That could change overnight. Will we be ready? Biblically sound “peace” churches are few and far between. Many, if not most, “Christian” churches glorify the military and endorse the Christian's participation in the military.
