Torre is making the right move here -- the Yankees playoff life is on the line, as is his job. Rather go out with your ace on the hill -- albeit on short rest -- than with a guy who was demoted to your bullpen just a month ago. So even though Cleveland has the upper hand in the series, does that mean they should take their chances with Paul Byrd, or counter with C.C. Sabathia?It's a really tough question for multiple reasons. For one, Sabathia was ineffective in Game 1, laboring through five innings while throwing an astounding 115 pitches. Not only would you be bringing Sabathia back on short rest which would not be an easy task, but Sabathia also struggled last time out. Even if Sabathia fails, you can still bring in Byrd in relief and hope the offense catches up on Wang who might be tired. [ Full article ] |
