Should The Mets Go After Fukudome? |

Tim Dierkes recently suggested on MLB Trade Rumors that the Mets should look to acquire Japanese RF Kosuke Fukudome, who is a free agent that will not require a posting fee this off season. In 2006, Fukudome slugged 31 home runs, had 104 RBI, and had 174 hits in 578 plate appearances. Fukudome is a two time batting champion in Japan. On Armchair GM, Dan Lewis suggest the Mets go after him as well, to free up Lastings Milledge or Carlos Gomez to be included in a trade to upgrade the Mets in another area, possibly a starting pitcher. I know little of Fukudome, other than what I’ve been reading about him in the last week or so. His name has been popping up all over, and some have said he will be the biggest free agent discussed in this weak FA off season. I’m not yet sure how strong the Mets interest is in Fukudome, but Lewis and Dierkes make some pretty valid cases for them going for it.
