Congressman Ron Paul (R) of Texas, the anti war candidate in the Republican Presidential race has raised a very impressive $5 million for the third quarter. His fund raising numbers are not far behind that of John McCain.Marc Ambinder of The Atlantic writes, "The Paul movement is probably one part Buchanan bridage and one part fiscal hawk". In a way Paul's campaign reminds me of the Buchanan 1992 campaign. Paul of course is a not an extremist like Buchanan but he's challenging the establishment and in a way he is running against the incumbent President, well he's not running against Bush of course, but he's certainly running against his policies.New Hampshire likes a maverick, they liked McCain in 2000, Buchanan in 1996 and gave him 37% in 1992 against incumbent President Bush, I wouldn't underestimate the Congressman from Texas just yet.
