Ron Paul and the Crazy Uncle Theory of Politics |

Much has been written of the Ron Paul phenomenon yesterday in which he took in more than $4M in a single day online yesterday. The Paul outburst reminds me of this brilliant post by Atrios titled The Reeds and Brass Have Been Weaving in which he described the power of the blogs. Overall what blogs have been able to do is create an unfolding political narrative which has been largely absent elsewhere. Sometimes it's about emphasizing different things, sometimes it's about combating DC conventional wisdom, sometimes it's about highlighting things which are being ignored. But taken all together it's about telling the story of politics in a different way. That's why Paul is working. He tells the story of politics in a different way and explains why a certain group of people feel betrayed.
