Road to Ames paved with insanity |

Ever since Rudy Giuliani and John McCain dropped out of the Ames Straw Poll, pundits have declared that the historical popularity contest had become meaningless. However, just a few days removed from when Iowans converge on the Iowa State Coliseum to cast their vote; the insanity has begun and serves to reminding us that the campaigns do believe it will have an impact. Here are is a sample of the madness: We will begin with Sam Brownback, whose campaign has set their sights squarely on Romney in an effort to basically trash him through auto-dials and emails. They believe that Romney is exposed on social conservative issues and they are relentless in pointing it out. So much so that the campaign has almost become obsessed with daily emails and press releases. Next we have the two candidates who decided that Ames was not important enough to participate being accused of pushing supporters to the poll to vote for Mike Huckabee. the Arkansas News had an article discussing the plan: Some [ Full article ] |
