Resolutions urge Congress to secure nation's borders; defeat efforts to withdraw support of rocker Bono's massive tax on Americans for global issues Although the 168-member Republican National Committee passed a resolution urging securing America's borders against foreign nationals seeking illegal access to the U.S., the RNC defeated efforts of conservatives to withdraw support of One Vote 08. The Washington Times reporter Ralph Z. Hallow, covers the One Campaign, a project of Irish rocker, Bono, which calls for putting a 1 percent tax on the U.S. federal budget and spending the estimated $30 billion in annual revenues from the tax to fight global poverty and disease. Bono regards global poverty and disease as problems solely dependant on America's taxpayers.
