Russo The California Field Poll has released a survey of our state's registered voters that demonstrates much of what many already know--that high gas prices have had a major impact on our lives and how we go about our daily business. Not only are Californians changing their driving habits turning to more efficient vehicles, relying more on mass transit, and driving less but the strain of paying more for gas has caused a cutback in spending in other areas such as food, clothing, or dining out as reported by two-thirds of those surveyed. This is seen as a serious problem by 81% of California registered voters. There have been some shifts in public opinion as to some energy production measures, including building more nuclear plants (favored 50% to 41%) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities (63% to 19%), but there has been remarkable support still shown in the face of rising gas prices and the seriousness voters attach to it for California's [ Full article ] |
