Filed under: BoxingThe best boxer in the world isn't resting on his laurels. Floyd Mayweather could have taken it easy following his victory over Oscar De La Hoya, but in stead he appears close to signing to fight Ricky Hatton. Hatton's father said his son (who is 43-0 with 31 knockouts) agreed in principle to fight Mayweather, probably in Las Vegas in November or December. One report says the fight is already set for Las Vegas on Dec. 8. Hatton's trainer is already showing confidence, saying, "I know Ricky will win." Mayweather (who is 38-0 with 24 knockouts) is widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. His win over De La Hoya gave him a higher profile, but beating Hatton -- a much better fighter than De La Hoya -- would solidify his place in boxing history. This has the potential to be a great fight. Previously on FanHouse:Ricky Hatton Wants Floyd MayweatherFloyd Mayweather: I'll Whoop Ricky HattonPermalink Email this Comments [ Full article ] |
