Ryan Newman Finishes 8th At Talladega |

Newman qualified 21st but started in 19th after some cars had to be moved to the back. Newman turned that 19th place start into a 8th place finish which helped to let him gain a position in the points standings to 11th. The race starting with Gibbs racing all up front. Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin all running up front. On Lap 30 after the first caution went back green, Newman comes on the radio and said “Bet the fans are loving this”. McCauley’s response was “yeah, NASCAR has their shit together don’t they”. I assume that was in reference to the straight line racing that was taking place. Newman hung out at about his starting position of 21st for the first 30 to 35 laps. Then around lap 35 Newman jumped on a train that steamed all the way to the front. When the train reached it’s destination, Newman was sitting in 5th and was soon in 4th. The engine on the train was Dale Earnhardt JR. The field was running single file on [ Full article ] |
