Filed under: Health and Safety, ToysMattel is having a bad run lately. With one product recall after another, one has to wonder how this will affect their bottom line. But more importantly, how is it affecting our kids? The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with Mattel announced the recall of "Sarge" Die Cast toy cars due to high levels of lead in the paint. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children. Needless to say, these toys were made in China.About 253,000 of the toy cars were sold nationwide at retail stores from May 2007 through August 2007 for between $7 and $20 (depending on whether they were sold individually or in sets).The recall involves the 2 1/2" die cast "Sarge" toy military jeep. The jeep has the markings "7EA" and "China" on the bottom. The toy is sold alone or in a package of two and might have product number M1253 (for single cars) or K5925 (for cars sold in sets) printed on the packaging.
