Filed under: Recalls The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of about 4.2 million Aqua Dots sets after it was discovered that they are coated with a toxic chemical. CNN reports the coating contains a chemical that when ingested converts into the 'date rape' drug gamma hydroxy butyrate. Children who swallow the beads can become comatose, develop respiratory depression or have seizures.Over the past few days, several children have swallowed the Aqua Dots and become ill. A 20-month old child swallowed several dozen and became dizzy and vomited several time before slipping into a coma. He has since fully recovered. A second child had a similar experience.Aqua Dots is a craft kit that allow kids to create multi-dimensional designs using small colored beads that are fused together when sprayed with water.
