Here's a ranking that actually matters: Colliers International's latest June survey of downtown parking rates in 61 cities worldwide has found that Phoenix is one-eighth as expensive as Center City Philly. And Philadelphia has risen back to being the fifth most-expensive downtown for parking, with a median monthly rate of $297. Phoenix is still dead-last among the 61 cities and grouped in the five least-pricey U.S. cities with a median of (are you sitting down) $35. So while the population ranking is down, the parking-cost ranking is up. The trend is pretty clear: Philadelphia's ranking was up from 6th in the 2006 Colliers' survey.
