From today's Oregon Statesman Journal:This year's battle-to-the-finish Democratic presidential primary has encouraged a rush of Oregon voter registrations. That's great.You can't make your voice heard unless you vote, and you can't vote unless you register. Tuesday — tomorrow — is the deadline to do that for the May 20 primary.This deadline affects mainly first-time Oregon voters, people who haven't voted in the past five years and registered voters who are changing their political party affiliation. People who have moved within Oregon may have more time, but they should call their county elections office to be sure.Registration forms are readily available on the Internet, at Driver and Motor Vehicle Services offices and at county courthouses, among other places. But there's no time to procrastinate.Over the weekend, a number of grassroots supporters helped canvass Oregon neighborhoods to register new voters, and there is still time to help out by calling Oregon residents [ Full article ] |
