Former Chandler city councilman Phil Westbrooks doesn’t look a thing like Barack Obama, but people in the greater Phoenix area keep stopping him to ask if he is the Democratic presidential candidate. Or his brother. This news made the Arizona Republic today and generated this reader comment: “OK…. Does America really want a President named ‘OBAMA’? It sounds too much like ‘OSAMA.’” I can’t believe people are still trying to have this argument. For people like that, I’d like to point out the following: BUSH sounds like TUSH. REAGAN sounds a lot like PAGAN. SANTA has the same letters as SATAN. So, please, let’s shelve the idiotic, fear mongering tactic of “Obama sounds like Osama”. Having a name that sounds similar doesn’t make the guy a terrorist. All you’re doing is inviting people to make fun of you. Besides, “Barack Obama” is obviously a Star Wars universe name.
