A Day with the Infantry |

In my twenty two years in the Army I have always known that the Infantry is where the rubber meets the road. For every Infantry soldier it is said that there are six more people who are there to support them in some way. In Civil Affairs we are considered an enabler for the Infantry, so we spend a lot of time working side by side with them. They get us places and provide security, and we win the hearts and minds so their world will be safer to operate in. I moved out with one of my teams this week to conduct a few missions and moved with the Infantry to see how we might be more effective in supporting them. The Infantry life is very basic- Got boots will travel , or even better, got Bradley will travel really fast. The platoon we were supporting needed to conduct a couple of patrols in a neighborhood known for Al Qaida operations while our CA team needed to collect information on a water issue and some other civilian related affairs (Lets just leave it at that).
