From The Jewish Week: Riding The Peace Wave The self-proclaimed Aloha Doc is hoping to “wipe out” intolerance with surf gear. Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz, an 86-year-old retired doctor from Hawaii, donated about a dozen surfboards on Tuesday to Gaza’s small surfing community, promoting peace in the region through a shared love of surf. “God will surf with the devil, if the waves are good,” Paskowitz said. “When a surfer sees another surfer with a board, he can’t help but say something that brings them together.” Carrying a board under each arm as he made his way towards the border, Paskowitz ducked under the barriers at the Erez Crossing, emerging in Gaza to hand out surfboards to eager Palestinians on the other side, along with members of his Surfing For Peace movement.
