November 7, 1985, was a cold night. Someone slipped into the home of Rev. Dewitt and Jessie Lou Lewis and beat them to death. The couple was sixty-six years old. Mr. Lewis was the semi retired owner of Dewitt's Electric Motor Rewinding and Repair and a Baptist minister. Around Dalton, he and his wife were respected, upstanding members of the community.
