See cult-movie legend/director Jack Hill at the Egyptian tonight for a double feature celebrating the release of the scary masterpiece, Spider Baby on DVD! Tonight's festivities include a screening of Spider Baby (1968) & Pit Stop (1969). Saturday night he will also grace the theatre with his presence for the screenings of two of some of the most friggin' awesome movies ever made, Switchblade Sisters (1975) & Coffy (1973). A Hollywood resident for decades, Hill's influence still reigns today, I mean the guy discovered Pam Grier for crying out loud (!) & will soon be seen in a cameo in Cody Jarrett's homage to Hill's 70's women-in-prison films, Sugar Boxx. A UCLA graduate, Hill began his cinema career working for B-movie king, Roger Corman, shooting inserts & pickups before he hit the jackpot & Spider Baby was financed, launching him to director status.
