From this report of a campaign swing through Grayson County it’s a bit hard to tell what platform Sen. Mitch McConnell will be running on, unless it be his befuddlement and indifference to fellow Kentuckians. Although McConnell was unaware of the recent announcement of the upcoming closure of the Leitchfiled [sic] Plastics Plant, he was optimistic about the country's economy. “Overall America is doing very well,” said McConnell. From the same paper, less than one month ago: The owner of Leitchfield Plastics announced Friday the facil[i]ty will shut down early in 2008, costing 260 workers their jobs… Regina Stinett has been working at the plant for ten years is upset by the plant closing. "I'm 50 years old. What am I going to do. You can't get a job out there. I am losing my insurance and my life insurance.” So maybe McConnell doesn’t much care about factory workers thrown out of work in the state he represents. At least he’s not [ Full article ] |
